Jacobsen Seed’s Position on Roundup Ready 2 Xtend Soybeans
The Jacobsen Seed Team is dedicated to helping you grow the healthiest and most profitable crop that you can. That is why we careful screen our seed, treatment, and technology offerings to offer the best performing products for our sales territory. A strong example of seed and technology coming together is the Roundup Ready 2 Xtend crop system in soybeans.
Strong Yields
Our lineup up hosts a variety of Roundup Ready 2 Xtend (RR2X) soybeans. When adding a RR2X soybean to our lineup there are many factors that we consider. First and foremost is the yield potential of the variety. We only bring on a RR2X variety if it consistently out yielding our Roundup Ready 2 Yield (RR2) varieties. We will continue to offer the RR2 as long as it is a top yielding number or has key defensive placement in our growers operations.
Playing Defense
Defensive positioning is the next factor when looking at the RR2X soybean offerings. The RR2X lineup offers us an extensive range of genetics to combat Soybean Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS), Soybean White Mold (SWM), Brown Stem Rot, Iron Chlorosis, and many other stress factors that may be present in a field.
Weed Control
The last factor we consider is perhaps the most controversial. The additional herbicide option of Dicamba brought to an operation with RR2X soybeans. In the face of increasing glyphosate and other herbicide resistance, it was important for us to offer and support this seed trait technology and the right of farmer to choose the best herbicide option for his or her acres. We encourage growers to carefully explore the pros and cons of this technology for broad spectrum broadleaf control in soybeans. Similarly, we understand that does not fit every farm. For this reason Jacobsen also offers Liberty Link soybeans and will continue to quickly bring our growers additional herbicide trait packages as they become available in the future.
